Starting Up, Scaling Up & Finding My Feet

When I first started Snatch the Style, I never imagined how quickly things would grow — or how much I would learn along the way.

What began as selling my own clothes, simply trying to get by when my health changed, slowly turned into something more. I realised there was a real demand for well-chosen, pre-loved fashion that didn’t feel rushed or disposable. That’s when Snatch the Style really began to take shape.

Moving into a bigger unit at Broadstone Business Centre

One of the biggest milestones so far has been moving into a larger unit inside Broadstone Business Centre. I’ll be honest — this wasn’t a move driven by everything being perfect or footfall suddenly booming.

Online sales have been steady and consistent, which has been really encouraging. In-person footfall, however, is still not where any of us would like it to be, and that’s something many small businesses are facing right now.

So why move into a bigger unit?

The truth is, staying small wasn’t going to help the business grow.

The larger space allows me to display stock properly, style the unit so customers can really see the clothes, and hold more variety without it feeling cramped or cluttered. It also means I can work more efficiently behind the scenes and create a space that feels calm, intentional, and inviting.

It was a strategic decision — not a flashy one.

Sometimes growth means backing yourself before everything feels comfortable and building the foundations first. It’s a little scary, but it also feels right.

Being part of a business community

One of the biggest positives of being based at Broadstone Business Centre is the sense of community. We’re all aware of the footfall challenges, and we’re actively working together to improve this through shared promotions, events, social media, and collaboration across the units.

It’s reassuring to know I’m not doing this alone, and that we’re all invested in supporting one another and growing together.

Sourcing clothing with care

Sourcing stock is one of the parts of the business I enjoy most. I’m intentional about what I bring in — focusing on quality, wearable pieces, good fabrics, and items that still have plenty of life left in them.

I don’t believe in fast fashion or overloading rails just for the sake of it. Every item is checked, prepared, styled, and photographed by me. I still work as a photographer, styling and photographing the clothing I sell, which allows me to stay creative while working in a way that fits around my health.

Looking ahead

This stage of the journey feels exciting and a little daunting — but in the best way. Moving into a bigger unit feels like a commitment not just to the business, but to myself and the future of Snatch the Style.

Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far — whether you’ve shopped online, visited the unit, shared a post, or followed along. Every bit of support genuinely means more than you know.

Here’s to steady growth, honesty, and continuing to build something meaningful
